 | Versatile reliable heating...
Dimplex Storage Heaters are one of the most popular forms of electric heating. They provide the basis of most electric heating systems in the home, but are also ideal to supplement other types of heating systems, for example if an extension is planned. Storage heaters are also widely used in commercial environments where a versatile reliable heating system is equally important.

Inexpensive off peak electricity... Because storage heaters use inexpensive off peak electricity they are cheap to run. In fact for modern houses, the running cost of an electric heating system is cheaper or comparable to other types of heating, but running cost is only part of the story.

 | Low installation costs...
With very low installation cost and virtually no maintenance required, the lifetime cost of owning an electric storage heating system is considerably lower than heating with other fuels.

Low running costs... Storage heaters operate using low cost, off peak electricity tariffs such as Economy 7 and White Meter. These tariffs are available from electricity suppliers throughout the UK and normally provide electricity to charge the storage heaters at around half the normal price. Some of the latest tariffs have been designed specifically for changing lifestyles and 'green' tariffs are now available which now encourage investment in renewable energy sources.

 | How they work...
All storage heaters work on the same basic principle. A core of very high density bricks store heat during the hours when cheap rate electricity is available. The stored heat then passes through the heater case by a combination of convection and radiation giving a comfortable balance of heating in the room. Insulation panels between the bricks and the outer case ensure that there is plenty of heat given out all day long. In fact storage heaters give heat 24 hours a day which keeps the building 'fabric' the walls and furniture - warm and protected from frost or condensation. There is no need for preheating because rooms are never left completely cold.
