Where to site your FanWhere to site your Fan
The most common cause of unsatisfactory mechanical ventilation is the 'short circuiting' of air movement between the fan and nearby air inlets. Fans should always be mounted in the furthest window, wall or ceiling from the main source of air replacement to ensure airflow across the room (eg opposite the internal doorway). Insufficient replacement air is also a common problem, especially in double glazed properties. Fans should not be sited where ambient temperatures are likely to exceed 50 deg.C or immediately above a cooker hob or eye level grille.

If installing in a room containing a fuel burning device e.g. a gas boiler which has a non balanced flue then the installer must ensure that there is enough replacement air to prevent fumes being drawn down the flue when the fan is on maximum extract.

Exhaust air must not be discharged into a flue used for extracting fumes from appliances supplied with energy other than electricity. When determining the method for exhaust air discharge the requirements of any authorities concerned must be observed.

An electrical product in a shower room or bathroom must be so situated that it cannot be touched by persons making use of the bath or shower, unless you are installing one of the range of Xpelair Lo-volt products.
